Family Owned & Operated North Florida Farm located in St Augustine,
devoted to agricultural education and experiences for local families.
Welcome Friends!
Hey there! I’m Wesley, owner of Wesley Wells Farms, and this is my wife, Amanda. I’m a third-generation farmer right here in St. Johns County, FL. After spending most of my life working with my dad, Billy Wells, and family at our farm, Wells Brothers Farm, growing corn and potatoes, I broke off and focused on feed corn five years ago.
More recently, we took a leap of faith in farming and a big risk. Thanks to Covid and my kids’ science experiments on the farm, our little pumpkin patch morphed into a you-pick field and an opportunity to educate our community on agriculture. We’ve been thrilled with the response from you guys and have loved every minute of farm tours, you-pick, watching our farm animals show off for y’all, workshops, and just hanging out with you guys. You can’t beat that hands-on experience most people don’t ever get to see on a farm, watching the field to fork movement literally happen in front of you.
"How great is it to see your produce growing, harvest it yourself, and bring it home to whip up a fresh, delicious dinner?"
It’s been an eye-opening experience for us to realize how few people know where their food comes from. No longer do most people we run into claim they spent their summers working on their grandparents farm. That is so rare and kids these days seem to think food comes from grocery stores but not how it gets there. As a family immersed in agriculture, we rate education pretty high, so that’s why we opened the you-pick field. We want you to know where your food comes from. We want you to see firsthand and know the truths of farming. We want you to ask us the hard questions.
With the media constantly shining a negative spotlight on agriculture, we want to be here to speak the truth, to clarify the rumors, to be completely transparent and allow you to see ag truths for yourselves. We want you to ask us about all those things you hear but wonder if they’re true. If we know, we will tell you. If we don’t, you betcha we will find out for you!
Please know this, as a dad of six, everything I do in the field from the seed I use to the soil I plant in is done with their safety in mind. I care about the environment, and I want mine and my family’s faith, safety, health, and well-being and YOURS to be at the forefront of everything I grow.
Finally, we wouldn’t be who we are without Jesus at the center of our lives. Our faith is an integral part of our lives, from farming to homeschooling to everyday life. This world is a scary place. It’s hard to imagine walking through it without a shred of faith and hope. We’ve had highs and lows, and been at the end of ourselves, but God is so gracious and faithful to us. We have felt desperate grief and hopelessness, but God has carried us through. He has provided for us in ways we would never have imagined. If we can have a single chance to share the hope and love of God with anyone who visits the farm, it’ll be so worth it.
If you haven’t visited Wesley Wells Farms you-pick field, be sure to come out and see us in September when we reopen the you-pick field for fall activities. Schedule a weekday appointment, or stop by anytime on a Saturday, or come to our Pumpkin Festival + Handmade Market on Saturday, September 24th from 9-5pm.
We are also currently booking field trips for the fall so if you haven’t heard about those, ask us and we will tell you more.
Thanks for letting us introduce ourselves.
Blessings,
Wesley & Amanda Wells
